FAQ

How do I know which is the right size for my dog?

Every dog's behaviour is different. Our experts will be happy to advise you to avoid making the wrong purchase. Please contact us by phone.

Why is the bike hitch not included?

There are 16 different Weber hitches for over 9000 different models and frames. Please contact your bike dealer or send us pictures and information so we can help you with your search.

Where can my dog get in and out when the crate is installed?

The box can be opened at the front and back.

Does the cover fit over the crate?

Yes, you can still attach the cover.

Where can I view a DoggyTourer?

The best place to do this is at our Straubenhardt showroom. We have all the models and colours on display. Please schedule an appointment for a consultation. We also offer consultations via video chat.

Can I return delivered articles?

You have a 14-day right of cancellation and can return the items to us after cancellation. (see also our terms and conditions)

Is the DoggyTourer approved for an e-bike?

Yes, but the maximum speed of 25 km/h must be observed.

Where can I find the operating instructions for my DoggyTourer?

Instructions will be automatically emailed with your invoice or click here:  operating instructions

Can I replace the cover or the side panels myself?

It's easy to replace the side panels or cover. You can find the parts in our shop. However, before replacing the cover or side panels, there is always the option of repairing them. This is much more resource friendly and often cheaper. Please contact us for more information.

I want to make a complaint. How do I do that?

Please contact us by phone or email. We will always find a solution together.

I can't find a specific spare part in the shop, what can I do?

Please get in touch with us. The best way is to send a picture of the required part. We will then be happy to take care of it.

What guarantee do I have with the DoggyTourer?

In addition to the statutory warranty, we offer a 25-year warranty on the aluminium construction.

What is the difference between the DoggyTourer and the Cocoon?

Many years of experience have taught us that not every dog likes external influences. The proportion of stress-sensitive, irritable and/or aggressive dogs is constantly increasing. We have developed the DoggyTourer "Cocoon" especially for this group.

The innovative shape of the side panels and the cover create a cave or cocoon for the dog, in which it can retreat and be carried safely and securely on the bike.

How does the DoggyTourer suspension work?

Every trailer we make has elastomer suspension and independent wheel suspension. The suspension is more like damping, which prevents the trailer from rocking and, in the worst case, tipping over.

Sustainable production: what does DoggyTourer do?

We manufacture exclusively in Germany. Short production routes improve our environmental footprint. By involving sheltered workshops in our production process, we secure jobs for people with disabilities for Caritas.

Is the DoggyTourer safe for dogs?

The fabrics for our trailers are sourced from Germany and are subject to strict Oeko-Tex standards and quality requirements. Our suppliers are checked annually for fabric quality and certification. All materials used are completely non-toxic.

How many kilos can I carry with the DoggyTourer?

A tiresome topic, but if we look at the current legislation on bicycle trailers for children (DIN EN 159.2017-05), the total weight is 60kg per trailer. The statement that an unbraked bicycle trailer may not exceed a total weight of 40kg comes from the "Information sheet for carrying trailers behind bicycles", which was published in 1999 as an appendix to the German Road Traffic Regulations. The legal relevance of the leaflet is not clearly defined, and in some points it contradicts the requirements of the European standard. Due to the unclear legal situation, we recommend that our customers adhere to the EU standard of 60 kg on public roads for bicycle trailers of any size. There are many companies on the internet that refer to the unregulated load capacity of bicycle trailers for the transport of goods/dogs and even up to 100kg on public roads.

Can the DoggyTourer be used all year round?

The trailer is waterproof up to a water column of 2500 mm and is therefore suitable for year-round use. For cold days, you will find a heating element in our online shop, which is best used in combination with the DoggyPad.

What is the best way to park my bike trailer when it is not in use?

The DoggyTourer folds up to save space. The wheels and drawbar fit inside the tub. Please ensure that the DoggyTourer is completely dry to avoid mould stains or mildew. You can find a protective cover for the unfolded version in our shop.

How can I protect the DoggyTourer from theft while travelling?

A keyhole lock can be used to prevent the trailer from being removed from the drawbar.

Why should we buy our trailer from DoggyTourer?

We are a small manufacturer and take our time with our customers. We have no assembly line production and stand for craftsmanship, top quality and fair working conditions. Our customers have names, not numbers.

Can the DoggyTourer be repaired?

Every single part of a DoggyTourer can be repaired or replaced.

How can I take optimum care of my DoggyTourer?

All parts and the fabric can be cleaned with a mild soap solution. Please do not use aggressive cleaning agents such as benzine or thinner. Always allow the DoggyTourer to dry thoroughly before storing it away.

What do I need to consider when using the buggy set?

The load on the buggy wheel must not exceed 10 kg. Hold the trailer firmly at the rear when the dog gets in. Distribute the luggage evenly to prevent it from tipping backwards.

When I start using the DoggyTourer, what do I need to be aware of?

  • Before every journey, check that the hitch and drawbar are in proper condition, especially the drawbar bracket on the trailer.
  • Check that the locking pins are inserted and secured in the drawbar profile
  • Dogs should not be allowed to lean against the sidewalls when driving, as they may press the fabric against the wheels at certain points and damage them.
  • Check the wheels for free running, wear and correct tyre pressure (2.0–2.3 bar)

For more tips and safety information, see our operating instructions.

Does the lighting comply with the current German road traffic regulations (StVZO)?

The DoggyTourer is equipped with all the required reflectors and reflective strips in the fabric. Please ensure that the red rear light supplied is switched on when it is dark.
